Introduction

I believe, and have been told many times, the wedding ceremony I performed was the most beautiful, meaningful, personal and fun ever. I have several types of ceremonies; Christian, non denominational, non-religious, varying cultures, including Celtic or even completely original. For those wanting a personal wedding, I will provide a questionnaire. The couples answers to each question are woven throughout the ceremony and the result is always tears of joy and joyful laughter. I believe there are times in life when we pass through a threshold and enter into a new aspect of our journey. Events like graduations, marriages, births, and loss require a ceremony or ritual to assist us in the change that will follow the event. I fully grasp how momentous the occasion of the wedding is for a couple and the changes that will follow. I have an ability to read people and intuitively understand their needs in the moment and to guide them through any stress they may be experiencing. I most love about my work is watching a groom as he sees his bride, for the first time, as she begins the walk down the aisle toward him. Listening to couples, who are deeply moved by the vows they chose which convey the promises they make to one another, is awe inspiring. Seeing the love in the eyes of a couple as they say "I Will" or “I Do”. These moments stay with me. Each ceremony is a unique experience and whether the couples are young or mature I know I am blessed to be included in their special moment.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I keep my pricing in line with the situation. If you feel the fees I have stated are too high please let me know so we can see if there is a place we can agree. My weddings are priced to cover the cost of; advertising, travel, preparation time, and wedding time. In the case of a rehearsal my fees are fairly low.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First is a conversation, either in person, phone, Skype or FaceTime. This is a time for me to listen to how they picture their perfect day. Often, those ideas need to be clarified, and through a series of questions and answers the couple can make clear to themselves and to me the wedding of their dreams. Next we'll schedule dates and times. I have simple contract to complete so that we're clear on next steps regarding meetings, directions, rehearsal and most important of all the wedding. I remain available for conversations, and any changes or of updates to wedding plans right up to the last minute.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an Ordained Minister of Centers for Spiritual Living and currently am the Senior Minister and Leader of The Unity of Beaverton Church in Beaverton, OR. I have been in ministry for more than 20 years.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was in the banking industry most of my early career. I enjoyed the personal relationships I developed with my customers and being of assistance during stressful times of their life. When I changed careers it was with a deeper understanding of myself and knowing I had to be in a career that was dealing with matters of the heart.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have performed weddings for Christians and Atheists and all faiths in between. My Spiritual beliefs allow me to honor each persons path as being perfect for them. So there is no "type" of customer who is right for me, what matters is am I right for you.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
The wedding officiant needs to be fully present during your ceremony. It may be another wedding for him/her, but it is the moment of a lifetime for you, and your family and friends in attendance. Speak to your potential officiant, do you feel a connection? Is she/he hearing you? Are they asking the right questions that give you confidence in their ability?

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What happens if you have an emergency or get sick the day of my wedding? Do you do pre-marriage counseling?
